Please read this file, it’s for your own good 😉
This local backup can be used for your archival purposes as well as self hosting your blog.
Self hosting is considered an expert only feature, if you don’t know how to FTP into your server now is a good time to turn around.
Uploading to your server is not for the faint hearted, you can irreversibly break your website if you delete/overwrite the wrong file.
Ok, we warned you…
Step 1 : Images
Each blog post will be saved with a set of images in a folder named after your blog title. Upload the entire blogpost folder to the root level of your website site.
For example, www.mysite.com/myblogpost/
If they aren’t in that exact location the blog HTML won’t work.
Step 2 : HMTL
Each blog post will be saved with an index.html file
Please go to your blog, create a post, and copy the contents of the index.html file into your post.
Please note that you’ll need paste the HTML into the source, or code block section of your blog editor.
Step 3 : Publish
Publish your post as normal.
Please keep in mind this HTML is now frozen in time, unlike a normal Storytailor post self hosted posts will not automatically receive updates as time goes on.
Final Thoughts…
Self hosting is not our recommendation (we actually think its a bad idea) but we did it because some folks really wanted it.
Fixing and debugging self hosted posts is outside the scope of our support, good luck!
PS. Here is an example of how to self host, but keep mind this will vary greatly from site to the next.
